- What I Drive
- 2015 Ford Edge Sport
Hi all,
my wife drives the 2015 Edge Sport and for the most part we both love it. It has just under 60k miles and still looks and drives like new however we have had a problem with the oil pan leaking for years now and when I started looking into the 2.7l EB oil pan problems I simply let it go because there was no real fix and until recently my wife wasn't aware of the problem. She is now aware, so I find myself here.
The past few years there has been talk about the pan being plastic and without a gasket which is the main problem and that Ford will eventually fix this. I am now looking into getting the problem fixed because as stated earlier, "she now knows" and I am reading different reports of there now being a replacement oil pan that is metal and some even mention that there's a built-in gasket, but then I read of other owners still having problems, some are even working on a third and fourth oil pan fix and I really don't want to go there.
Has anyone got any good news for me and can help because I have even tried calling Ford Dealerships in my area to purchase a replacement oil pan but they never get back. The only thing they will say is that I need to bring the car in and pay $250 which would be put toward the repairs, which I don't want from them. They really done seem to want to sell me the new updated pan if there is in fact one, and for my part I am not a lover of dealerships because that $250 charge will end up being $2k I'm sure and this is a simple leaking problem not a new engine.
Thanks, to all.
Regards,
Doug.
